Our dedicated colon hydrotherapist, Emma Attanasio, C.C.T., C.P.T., C.S.T., is a highly trained professional who specializes in the operation of the FDA-approved Aqua Cleanse colon irrigation system, a Type II medical device. This advanced closed system gently administers purified, double-filtered water through a disposable single-use rectal speculum.

 

Colon hydrotherapy is considered a safe and effective method for hydrating and cleansing the bowel. The process aims to remove accumulated waste from the colon, potentially improving digestive health and overall well-being. Our experienced practitioner follows strict hygiene protocols and uses state-of-the-art equipment to ensure a comfortable and beneficial experience for each client. During the session, clients remain fully covered to ensure privacy and comfort, and the experience is clean and odor-free.

Colon HydroTherapy Contraindications

People with certain medical conditions should not undergo colon hydrotherapy unless given approval from and/ or by prescription from their physician. These conditions include the following:

  • Anemia: severe 

Patients with significant anemia are at risk for cardiac compromise and may experience worsening of their anemia due to fluid absorption through the large intestine.

  • Aneurysm 

Contraindicated if a known large aneurysm is present within the abdomen

  • Anticoagulation

Contraindicated when the patient is taking blood thinners i.e., Coumadin with therapeutic levels

  • Colorectal Cancer 

Contraindicated if tumor is present (not surgically removed yet)

  • Cardiac Disease: severe

i.e., uncontrolled hypertension. The procedure may predispose at risk patients  to an increased cardiac risk such as blood pressure shifts

  • Cirrhosis of the Liver 

  • Congestive Heart Failure 

  • Crohn's Disease

  • Dialysis 

  • Diverticulitis: acute 

  • Epilepsy/ Seizures   

Contraindicated when uncontrolled

  • Fissures/Fistulas 

Contraindicated when painful and bleeding

  • GI Hemorrhage

Contraindicated if actively/ recently bleeding)

  • Hemorrhoids: internal/external

Contraindicated if painful or bleeding

  • Hernia: Incarcerated Abdominal 

Contraindicated if painful

  • Pregnancy

Contraindicated- until postpartum 6 weeks for vaginal birth and 8 weeks for c-section  

  • Prostatitis

Contraindicated when acute 

  • Renal Insufficiency/Failure 

  • Surgery: Recent Abdominal

Contraindicated until 6 weeks post, bowel surgery 8 weeks

  • Ulcerative Colitis: servere 

Contraindicated when severe and active

Patients taking certain medications, including corticosteroids like Prednisone or anticoagulants (blood thinners), are not eligible for this service due to the increased risk of complications associated with potentially weakened intestinal walls.
